...just thinking out loud...
I don't know what the brand are of these ribbon tweeters...ha!
So if anyone knows...help me remember!
Anyway I've purposely stayed away from any kind of super tweeters
until a few days ago...I've been slow to walk this path...as I very carefully added one component at a time and
I learned a great deal...so finally decided I don't have the money yet for the Fostex amk mk2 or whatever they're
named...but I had these, an extra behringer and a fairly decent yamaha amplifier(p2075c). Fortunately I also have
an s/pdif to 3 aes/ebu box so I thought why not!
First, this is going to be a long battle...I'm not kidding myself(disclaimer).
But the potential benefit is very clear.
Low, lows...mid bass punch...mid range clarity and now...beautiful air!
The XO point is 10.1kHz....and to start...and maybe this is not the best starting point, but I've got both the
mid range and tweeter with 18dB butterworth. Kind of afraid of overlap until I get them properly aligned...mebbe..I dunno...
One big difference that popped out is that the mid range changed.
I haven't exactly figured it out but the sibilance of a voice or crack of a drum..more information. But is there something psychological?
I fear the 4 way...but it's irresistible and what was a beautiful sounding stereo sounds stunning... Oh...I still need the proper foam
surround for the mid range horns which is what I will probably do next. I STILL am not happy with the ideas I have had so far.
My feeling is that done properly...tweeters are good.
Actually I have one EV-T350a somewhere so if one of you guys have an extra one...well I want it!![]()
